BEAUTY AND COSMETICS · PRODUCTION PLAYBOOK

Beauty and cosmetics imagery that stays consistent at catalogue scale.

Beauty and cosmetics teams manage dense shade ranges, reflective packaging, small type and launch-led campaigns. This playbook covers capture inputs, editing decisions, department handoffs and the quality controls needed to protect credible shade colour, clean packaging, readable labels and controlled reflections.

01

A production brief your team can reuse

Match each swatch to the approved physical reference under D65 viewing. Protect all regulatory copy and batch marks. Clean dust and fingerprints but preserve the soft-touch finish. Common jobs include pack cleanup, swatch refinement, label protection, colour matching, reflection control, multi-pack stacking. The approved decisions become a versioned specification rather than disappearing into email.

02

Make shade governance explicit

A shade name alone is not a colour reference. Record whether matching is based on a calibrated photograph, physical sample or signed-off master, and keep display-ready sRGB outputs separate from archival colour files.

03

Protect packaging truth

Ingredient text, volume, certification marks and pack version should not be reconstructed casually. If source resolution is inadequate, flag the image rather than creating plausible but incorrect copy.

04

Control reflections across a family

Bottles and metallic caps look more coherent when highlight width and direction are specified as a family. This must still respect each material rather than pasting one reflection onto every shape.

05

Move the full range without losing product identity

Device, folder and secure-link uploads keep source names attached to the order. Department roles separate preparation, product questions, review and billing. Approved masters can then become controlled outputs for DTC stores, beauty retailers and social commerce, while exceptions remain visible instead of blocking the entire range.

PRACTICAL ANSWERS

Questions teams ask before production.

01Can one photographed shade create every colour?

Sometimes, but undertone, texture and reflectance may differ. Critical shades should be photographed or checked against a reliable physical reference.

02Will small label text be rebuilt?

Only from an approved source file. Rupato should never invent packaging text.

03Can pack shots and swatches share one workflow?

They can share the order while using separate specifications and QC criteria.

ONE ORDER OR A COMPLETE CATALOGUE

Make the brief clear before the first file moves.
