FOOD AND BEVERAGE PACKAGING · PRODUCTION PLAYBOOK

Food and beverage packaging imagery that stays consistent at catalogue scale.

Food and beverage packaging teams manage frequent pack changes, label compliance, liquid transparency and grouped variants. This playbook covers capture inputs, editing decisions, department handoffs and the quality controls needed to protect legible labels, clean containers, credible colour and current pack version.

01

A production brief your team can reuse

Use the approved current label artwork only. Keep fill level and liquid colour unchanged. Remove temporary dust, preserve condensation where art-directed, and separate UK and EU pack versions. Common jobs include bottle and can cleanup, label protection, liquid masking, multipack assembly, version control, retailer outputs. The approved decisions become a versioned specification rather than disappearing into email.

02

Version control comes before retouching

Packaging may differ by country, recipe, promotion or regulatory update. Each image needs a version identifier so clean retouching is not applied to an obsolete pack.

03

Protect transparent and reflective edges

Glass, clear pouches and liquids need masking that retains refraction and believable highlights. A hard clipping path can make the package look opaque.

04

Build multipacks from verified components

Stacking requires the correct pack count, scale and orientation. Components are never duplicated without confirmation that the listing represents that quantity.

05

Move the full range without losing product identity

Device, folder and secure-link uploads keep source names attached to the order. Department roles separate preparation, product questions, review and billing. Approved masters can then become controlled outputs for grocery ecommerce, delivery apps and wholesale catalogues, while exceptions remain visible instead of blocking the entire range.

PRACTICAL ANSWERS

Questions teams ask before production.

01Can an old label be replaced digitally?

Only with approved artwork and a product owner’s confirmation; a new photograph is safer when geometry or packaging changed.

02Can condensation be removed?

Yes when defined as temporary, or preserved when it is part of the approved art direction.

03How are regional packs separated?

Use market and version codes in the asset record and naming pattern.
